Denim shorts are a tricky little number, if you get them right then you’ll love them forever and wear them to death! But if you’ve never found a keeper then this post is for you.
To buy or not to buy?
My husband always reads the bad reviews first when we are booking a holiday or trying a new restaurant, then makes up his mind to book or not. Reviews are powerful sound bites into other peoples experience in purchasing the product you are looking at. So why wouldn’t you take notice of their experience as it’s unbiased (most of the time).
Reviews on clothing websites are equally as important and invaluable especially when you can find out about the fit, fabric and quality before you part with your cash.
What should I be looking for?
Here are three points you should consider when buying shorts.
- The rise of the short: Keep this similar to the rise of the jeans you normally wear. If you’re unsure then watch my video HERE
- How short should I go: As with jeans there’s a big selection of different styles & lengths of shorts. “Bare as much as you dare” is my motto. However, if you keep to a 4in / 10cm inseam your modesty will be intact.
- Take a seat: Make sure you sit down in the shorts when first trying them on. If the leg disappears too much or your bottom is peeping out you need a higher rise & a longer leg!
